Job Purpose
The Technician Mechanical is responsible for performing complex mechanical repairs in line with manufacturer standards, managing additional repair requests, and ensuring accurate job card documentation. The role also involves handling warranty parts, maintaining workshop safety and cleanliness, and supporting overtime when required. Effective use of materials and clear communication with the team are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out repairs as per manufacturer standards and work instructions.
- Adhere to the Fix it Right First Time (F1) principle.
- Complete jobs within the allotted time.
- Provide feedback on additional repairs to the Team Leader, Foreman, or Controller.
- Communicate delays in advance to the Team Leader/Foreman.
- Work overtime when required by the Team Leader/Foreman/Controller.
- Record oils/consumables on the job card.
- Handle customer vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Raise parts requisitions when necessary.
- Complete warranty tags, attach them to parts, and store them appropriately.
- Obtain prior approval for additional repairs/warranty jobs.
- Use protective covers on customer vehicles.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
- Comply with workshop safety procedures and SOPs, including use of safety equipment and PPE.
- Keep overalls and safety shoes clean.
- Ensure materials issued on job cards are used for the respective vehicles.
Educational Qualification
- 2-year ITI in Automobile / 3-year Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years dealership experience, including at least 2 years as a Technician.
Competencies
- Physical fitness to perform mechanical repairs.
Languages
- Basic English proficiency.
